Barbour Business Park Profile

The Rising Sun/Ohio County Economic Development Commissions are developing a new 21-acre business park just one mile north of downtown Rising Sun. This park is initially platted with 14 lots that range in size from 0.848 acres to 2.660 acres, allowing for multiple uses. Located on Indiana State Road 56, the Barbour Business Park offers high visibility and easy access to Interstate 275 and the Cincinnati metropolitan region. The park is fully served by water, sewer, electric, natural gas and telecommunications utilities. Currently under discussion is the public/private development of a satellite facility of the Ivy Tech Community College at the business park.

The City of Rising Sun and Ohio County fully support economic development and are willing to consider incentives on an individual basis for new businesses locating in the Barbour Business Park or other locations in Rising Sun and Ohio County.

Municipal Services/Infrastructure

The Rising Sun Municipal Utilities (RSMU) serves the Barbour Business Park, providing electric, water and wastewater treatment facilities. The design capacity of water services is 1.44 million gallons per day, with average daily production at 0.27 million gallons per day. Wastewater treatment design capacity is 0.6 million gallons per day, with average daily output at 0.29 gallons per day.

The Rising Sun Municipal Utilities is also on the cutting edge of technology and has recently installed a county-wide, wireless, high-speed internet service that is available at competitive rates to both commercial and residential customers.

The City of Rising Sun and Ohio County offer one of the lowest property tax rate structures in the State of Indiana. Projected tax rates can be easily calculated on an individual basis for interested businesses.
